Welcoming Michael Gilmour, Senior Associate
Michael is a public affairs and government relations specialist focused on emerging technology, AI and digital policy across Southeast Asia. Based in Kuala Lumpur, he brings a combination that is particularly valuable for companies navigating the region: broad experience across ASEAN markets alongside deep expertise in Malaysia – a market that is increasingly central to conversations on AI governance and digital regulation across the region.
His advisory work has spanned technology and healthcare clients across Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand, covering regulatory strategy, AI governance, digital regulation, market entry and public-private partnerships.
Most recently, he helped lead market entry and policy engagement across Southeast Asia for a leading global AI company, advised global technology companies navigating reputational challenges amid fast-moving privacy and online safety regulations, and supported healthcare advocacy to improve access for underserved communities in Singapore. Earlier in his career, he focused on policy research and government affairs in Kuala Lumpur, building a strong grounding in Malaysia’s federal government and policy environment.
Michael holds a Master in International Affairs from the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore, where he received a full scholarship from the Li Ka Shing Foundation, and a BSc in International Relations from the London School of Economics.
