Senior Associate / Associate
Note: We are hiring for two positions across this level band. The specific level offered will be determined by your experience and performance through the interview process.
Location: Singapore (preferred) or Southeast Asia (remote)
Type: Full Time
Level: Entry-Level to Early Career
The Role
As an Associate or Senior Associate at Emergent, you'll play a critical role in shaping how tomorrow's most important technologies engage with the world - moving from research into insight, and insight into action. Depending on your experience, your work will span regulatory research, stakeholder mapping, narrative framing, and policy influence, with increasing ownership over client workstreams as you grow.
This is an on-ramp to strategic advisory. You'll work closely with senior consultants and directors, sharpening the judgement and expertise needed to become a trusted advisor, taking on greater ownership and, for more experienced candidates, mentoring junior team members along the way. If you're intellectually curious, politically attuned, and excited by the intersection of policy, power, and innovation, this is your chance to build real expertise and grow quickly.
Key Responsibilities
-
Conduct in-depth research and monitoring on regulatory, political, and industry developments across Asia-Pacific
-
Draft briefing notes, stakeholder maps, policy summaries, and communications materials
-
Support, and with growing experience help lead, the delivery of client workstreams - including project coordination, content development, and insight generation
-
Track project timelines, maintain quality standards, and contribute to client reporting
-
Work with colleagues across policy, narrative, and design to produce sharp, strategic, and visually compelling outputs
-
Contribute to knowledge-building, internal processes, and business development efforts, with more senior candidates supporting the development of junior team members
What We’re Looking For
-
1-5 years (Associate/Senior Associate) of experience in public affairs, policy research, communications, consulting, or related fields
-
Strong research, analytical, and writing skills - clear thinkers who can turn complexity into insight
-
Regional interest or experience in Southeast Asia, with an eye on political, regulatory, or economic trends
-
Familiarity with issues in tech, sustainability, or trade is a bonus
-
Highly collaborative, detail-oriented, and proactive in solving problems
-
Hungry to learn, adaptable, and excited to work in a fast-moving, growing team
What We Offer
-
Mentorship and skill development in a tight-knit, high-performance team
-
A collaborative and entrepreneurial culture that values initiative and experimentation
-
A front-row seat to some of the most interesting public affairs issues and clients
