We are thrilled to announce that Steven Liew has joined Emergent as a Senior Advisor.
Steven is a distinguished leader in public policy and technology, bringing with him three decades of experience at the nexus of innovation, regulation, and societal transformation.
He began his career as an intellectual property lawyer at Baker & McKenzie’s Hong Kong office, before moving into the law and public policy departments of Nokia Corporation, Louis Vuitton Malletier, eBay Inc., and most recently Airbnb, where he served as Director of Public Policy for Asia Pacific. In these roles, he played a critical part in leading forward-looking public affairs campaigns, building government relations, and helping global companies navigate rapidly evolving policy environments.
“We’re at an inflection point where emerging technologies are changing the world. The old playbook for public affairs no longer works. Emergent is taking a smart, strategic approach to using public affairs to deliver real value - for both established companies and the next generation of start-ups. I’ve joined not just as an advisor, but as someone with a stake in Emergent’s success. I believe in what they’re building, and I’m excited to help scale their impact.”
Beyond the corporate world, Steven is also a startup advisor and angel investor. He co-founded Cosmic Cafe, a private investment and advisory firm that supports early-stage technology ventures. His commitment to nurturing innovation and advising purpose-driven businesses aligns deeply with Emergent’s mission to reimagine public affairs for a new era.
We couldn’t be more excited to welcome Steven to the Emergent collective.
