Operations & Finance Manager

Location: Singapore (hybrid) / Any Southeast Asia cities (remote)
Type: Full-time / Part-time

Emergent is a public affairs and strategic advisory firm based in Singapore. We’re growing and we’re looking for someone who is effective at making things run smoothly.
 

This role is for someone who can handle admin and finance operations with confidence, and help build the workflows that keep a fast-moving team running efficiently.
 

What you’ll do

  1. Finance operations (FinOps) & invoicing support
    Working in close alignment with the Managing Director and Accountant, you will support the business in maintaining clean, accurate, and timely financial operations, including:
    - Reviewing incoming and outgoing invoices for completeness and accuracy
    - Checking timesheets against invoices and flagging inconsistencies
    - Tracking payment status and follow-ups
    - Maintaining simple financial trackers and records
    - Supporting monthly operational reporting
     

  2. Operations & admin coordination
    You’ll help keep the internal engine running day-to-day, including:
    Managing shared trackers, templates, and internal documentation
    Supporting scheduling and coordination across the team
    Supporting internal team systems and light project coordination
    Supporting hiring administration as needed
     

  3. Workflow and process improvement
    You’ll help build simple, repeatable systems:
    Documenting and enforcing new workflows and internal SOPs
    Identifying friction points and proposing improvement
    Helping trial and implement tools (including AI tools) that improve efficiency
     

What we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Highly organised and detail-oriented

  • Comfortable working across admin, operations, and finance coordination

  • Confident following up with others and maintaining accountability

  • Proactive and able to spot problems early

  • Calm, reliable, and discreet (trust matters in this role)

  • Excited about building systems - not just doing tasks
     

Experience & skills

You should have:

  • 3–6 years of experience in operations, admin, finance coordination, office management, or similar

  • Comfort working with invoices, trackers, and timesheets

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Confidence working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities

  • Strong proficiency in tools like Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Xero, or similar
     

Bonus points

You’ll stand out if you:

  • Have experience in consulting, agencies, startups, or professional services

  • Have experimented with AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT, automation tools, templates, workflow assistants) to improve productivity

  • Enjoy learning new tools and building efficient systems
